I glance up
from reading
to see her sitting
in the chair opposite me
in the aisle

she looks up quickly
and smiles
opens her book
i can see the cover

Bukowsi, sure
me too.

I go back to reading
hear a sound
like paper rustling

stockings rubbing together

I look up again
I can see up her skirt
far enough up
to hold my attention

she looks up again
and smiles

I put down my copy
and as I walk by her
I point to her book
and say

"Bring that with you"

as I drop my room key
into her lap.
