From Across The lands lay lower, there, down the hill, But yet, see the lands range beyond; And someone thought the gates might hold Those spirits who would see far and yon. From across the expanse, they had walked To the heavens that would hold them true; No wonder that a pioneer would stand, Clear in heart, open to all of God’s view. They could imagine the storms that would be; They could see as His hand would sweep on in; No wonder the elephant lent his knee; No wonder that they bowed before sin. What was here for them, they might have wondered, No hills before them to hide; no trees to hold. The land was barren, far as they might see; Yet, they worked the earth, turning ground to gold. You, picture those spirits that walked the land See now them bowing for all that was grand. Photo, courtesy, T. Trowbridge S.D. [This message has been edited by Sunshine (07-20-2004 11:15 AM).] |

Yes, I can see them. I would love to have stood on the plains when the world was young. Susan Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

I see Karilea and how strong and brave they were. Took off in covered wagons for parts unknown and carved out a life for themself. Nothing for miles and miles ..... I stand in awe. Hugs, Marti Look deep, deep into nature, |

through your elegant words I can see them, their wagons, oxen, the clanging of the wooden wheels..they were courageous...and extremely admired...what valor to follow their dreams and desire to have searched out destiny...facing the unknown every breath of the way. Astounding Sunshine, thank you for the picture and your words.. |

Karilea I would very much like to be there at your window one day...and see the land you have come to cherish so much. And the history...I can almost see the print of wagon wheels in your words. |

If you find the right spot on the plains, they look as they might have 100 years ago. Not 150, for the buffalo are gone. Beautiful scene you paint here. KJ Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
