So often I am tired now, my time to play has gone
The years of age are catching up, and still I do things wrong
The morning starts in darkness, my return to faded light
And all there’s left to show for it is body without fight

I’m drained and really nowhere in the scheme of this my life
The questions that I asked now sit in wait
Not knowing my direction and the path that I should take
But thinking that I’ve left it much too late

We’re spirits given body, with to do the best we can
Free spirits till we’re caged and can not fly
I feel the pounding deep within, but just can not escape
Quite often what you dream can be a lie

Full of such frustrations that I feel that I must yell
But find that what I feel I hold within
The head is full of turmoil, its thoughts reflecting hell
Where is the guide who’ll show me how to win?

There’s a numbness that I’m feeling and things I just ignore
Words that should be spoken that are true
With only this one body, can I find the strength to flee?
For something’s out there waiting with much better things to do

I know the feeling of being caged by choices made when you have a heart that longs for more.  Change can be made.  It is most difficult and takes time, we must be patient.  But we must also seek satisfaction with who we are at this moment so as to find peace.  Then chart our course of change.  I have come to see my cage as a starting point, a place of safety as I forge the key to open the door.  I speak of my job here, a significant chunk of ones life that I would rather spend doing something that brings me greater joy and satisfaction.

Best to you.

Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you.  Joy is a state of mind.

You've captured that "help, I'm trapped, and things look bleek" feeling very well, Rick.  Thank you for sharing those emotions.

My dear friends, thank  you all for your replies, I am quite alright, just venting thoughts that creep within at times, life is one big question with a million answers, slowly I find them when I seek, you all have big hearts, thank you for caring.

Juju, thanks for your reply, life seems so full of such sadness, much of it we just ignore, but some does stick and leaves us in ponder of it and what's better. It was writen for one day, there are so many that are different and many that are the same, learning to live through each is the secret of a good life.
Great to see you here my friend, again thank you for your reply.

Sincerely
Rick
