Wherever the next step leads me
that I am unaware of
May I leave a small trace behind
but I am not obsessed with this
I see how as the years progress
there are more who feign affection
when they seek self interest
there are more egocentrics
interested in what's for them
I see some stages of my life
I could have done without
my entire life appears less significant
it disappears in the grand scale of things
and all our lives will be absent,
prehistoric,  as new rock strata is deposited
and our bones concealed in these layers
but there was this incessant need to reproduce
to continue our cold-blooded seed
though some say we may have been warm
Can't predict the advent of the next storm
giant bi-pedal, lizard skinned creatures
gone without a trace of current features
that would be hominid to inherit this place
then to multiply and expand into outer space.
A multitude we are today, tomorrow vanished
the reign of cretaceous era then relinquished...
