~*~

You are pictures on a postcard
a distant sparkling
blazing blue;
rolling in on waves
that shimmer me, still.

Buried deep
beneath the sands
wishing you were here
seems so easy
but you're not.

A surreal setting on vacation
infatuated by the captivation
glints on golden strands
encased like a necklace
set in topaz.

Pointed toward the sun
hanging off the edge
spilling from my lashes
one
by one.

Phasing in the twilight
going down around me
like a warm pocket
where I can catch your glare
in short spans, reflecting
without reeling.

When ripped between the tides
my poetry unresolved
holding on a little longer
my heart pounds, skipping between beats
racing against my pain
that keeps me feeling.

Scarred
by ultraviolet rays
meant to heal
breathing between breaths
tempers the burn
inside and out.

No feelings pang like those of missing someone.
It is always a pleasure to picture the images you find.  Well done!  Ken

Even in pangs of pain, your song is sweet and strong.  Loved this and especially the following verse.
*****************

Phasing in the twilight
going down around me
like a warm pocket
where I can catch your glare
in short spans, reflecting
without reeling.

***************

Just sort of shows a bit of strength without fear of the reflected pause.  Enjoyed much

Lori,
You make it easy to feel your pain. You write so smooth. But you bless us with so little of it. More please...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
