Winding paths
and falling leaves
make my search
harder than it should be.

He loves me.
He loves me not.

I remember when I thought
he loved me.

And I wonder when I stopped caring.

I run further down the trail
hoping to catch up with the moon.
Knowing it will wrap me,
caress me.

I miss feeling loved,
feeling warmth of body next to mine.

The chill of the changing season
sends shivers up my spine,
each goose bump hoping for demise of cold.

As I peal the clothing from my skin,
standing naked before my own reflection
I contemplate the difference between
drowning in life and drowning in water.

and which takes more strength.

"cast me gently into the morning, for the night has been unkind"

Wow - power packed, and that ending, sheesh- I so understand that - excellent

Remember what you asked me about the style of your last poem?  Well, hope you were going for the same effect here, 'cause you nailed it...

I couldn't have asked for better replies.

You guys warm me with your kindness.

And Karen?  If you are nuts...then the world is in a very sad state because I interact with plenty of people you couldn't hold a candle to in the nuts department...

I love all of you so very much!

Okay, I read this a couple of times because on the first read I got caught up in the content so much that I couldn't figure out why the read seemed flawless.  Now I know why.  The fact that your line breaks and the break-up of thoughts is done so to perfection.  I really enjoyed this penning of yours much.

As for what takes more strength ... I sincerely believe you will be learning to "swim" in life again very soon.

what do I know
I moved in with a statue
and then the pigeons came

maybe tomorrow will be the answer
I will dream about tomorrow
and tomorrow
I will sleep in
and dream again
