Do you remember running all the way to the park and never looking back.
The freedom and exhilaration you felt.
Do you remember riding your bike down the hill?
Lifting your feet off the pedals so that the downward pull of gravity would take over?
You did not know why then but you knew it happened.
You felt so weightless as your bike careened out of control,
No worries or fears that you might wreck your bike and break your neck or skin your knee.
Why does becoming an adult cause a person to stop having fun without regard to their well being?
Impulse control, I think is what it is called.
You stop being as impulsive in your actions as you gain the knowledge of the bad
Most of us have impulse control as we reach adulthood and some do not.
Life is made up of these little memories,
Good and bad all of us have them.
Some stick harder then others.
Some just slide off like a butterfly touching a flower as it lands,
Others feel like getting our leg caught in a snare.

Why do I have no impulse control when it comes to you?
No matter how many times, my leg has been caught in your proverbial snare.
I miss careening down that hill with you.
Lifting my feet up, just to catch,,,, a downward wind
Was it ever fun the way I was propelled?
Down and down I flew.
I did not see it then, now I know
Yet, Am reluctant to let you go,
Or bid you Adieu...
Impulse control...
A character I never knew
Impulse control
where are you?

This is really wierd, but just the other day, I was thinking about the time my brother and I were riding double on a bike (he was steering) down this very steep street. He turned into a field and there were about 3 small whoop-ti-do's. We went flying and when we got home, I had tire tracks on the back of my shirt.

We never did figure out how that happened.

If it were me, I would rewrite this and take a lot out of it. You have a good idea and I like it.

It's funny how sometimes we don't see what is right in front of us until after it's gone.  Well done Jennirey.

questions well asked....each of us has confronted now and then...perhaps it wasn't the right time...perhaps we didn't know what we had and took it for granted...but most of all, the best way to find answers is through self exploration....in your writing, time well spent soul searching, listening to the sounds of nature, reading...getting comfortable with self, and liking the person your spending time with...smiles and hugs
perfection in the making...this poem
