state of confusion

Reach

In the days of long and young
I was once a dolphin’s daughter
Through the roar of many songs,
I recognized mother’s melancholy tune
and first knew the ring of loss
as she sang of a brother before me.

She did smile and laugh
when we played with seals along the strand,
always near the edge, we swam.

North then south we flew, feeding along the way.
I was more interested in play
and she screeched and scolded
when hiding time would come,
but the line between us and the heavy place
held a siren’s charm.

One morning when above and below
both wore shawls of gray,
I found my mother had gone
to the sandy home where we die.

I searched for days, sent my cries up
to the space called sky
until I could no longer remember her
or what it was to fly.

Chills.  I got chills, Corinne!  Yes, we are very much on the same "wave" length...

I am sorry I didn't have a chance to call.  I will, however, call soon, and share with you some of the better moments.  All in all, for as "relaxed" an itinerary [taking things as they came] the time flew much too rapidly!  We were even going to call from Martie's house...but the clock clicked too fast, and as suddenly as I came?  I was gone *poof*.

Next time?  Northern Exposure!

Thank you all very much!

Dark Angel -- thank you especially for stopping in twice!

Sunshine, I know what you mean, your time is rarely your own when visiting friends and family. I'm glad you had a good time! We'll catch up next time and hey, one of these days I'll be dropping back to KC (not for the holidays this year, though).
