Stories

You know so many of mine.
Like, the way the plum tree grew into a horse;
but did you know the dirt
and the roads that led away from play?

In the other place,  a face,
just a girl at the third floor window.
Does it seem she’s dressed in lace,
her red cork curls idle?

I knew she had a fever
and I didn’t imagine her sallow skin,
I could see it’s pale surface a reflection of my own,
her eyes must be where the scarlet was.

I searched mine.

She never knew I watched her
and in my child’s heart
I worried that those stairs she had to walk
some day would be mine.

When I saw her later out in the air,
her body fluffy and her walk slow,
I tried to be kind, not stare.
But I searched her for some truth she knew
and I couldn’t find it.

I played jacks in the basement
below my third grade class,
the echo still resounds within me
where my dresses twirled and I sat cross legged
on cold cement to win friends.
I don’t remember
the rules to the game of hopscotch
but do you think it is important on this day
to tell you how many times I prayed?

Such a simple story of a child's heart, but so well told!  KJ

It's better now,
to know the true voice
behind the soul sung words...

and it carries a deeper impact
to know how you stare off
into not space, but places,
as you feel the words come
to layer you...

I miss you.

My love to you, and Taylor.

it is in the stillness of courage and truth
that love wraps and produces miracles
there is no better healing than a plate of love
and love is the tie that binds in all purposeful
giving of self, significance and closing the circle of caring for anothers quality of life, to the point of kindness we never
thought we were capable of...there is great
truth in the words of God
regardless if written by profits or words of men...goodness is love, truth is love
warm eyes, placing a hand on the cheek of someone in need, feeding them with great courage...live it, feel it...be alive within
around and for...as nothing but nothing can take away love...but instead develops great growth....

In the distance between, I lay my thoughts on you and Taylor...with warm smiles and great hugs...love you both, so very much.

Thank you for taking the time to write and share...lovely lady/poetess.

Martie,
This tugged on me, too.  You have a special way of gathering and presenting ideas the reader can so easily relate.  I admire you and your skills.

Martie ... no one can string words together like you dear poetess. You do your craft so darn well.

Yes, I know for a certainty that these stories are true.... and I can attest that they are True.

They're also something else that is deeper than mere truth...they are windows into the soul of a passionate and compassionate woman. That's a view worth gold.
