Looking in the mirror this morning Staring back at myself Smooth skin to smooth skin I look like you I reached a hand out and touched it Hand on hand Fingers matching size and shape If I had nails I would have hands like yours The older I get the more I see you Running a hand down and into the water of the faucet I remember washing my hands Smiling up at you With all the delight in the world Your face matching mine in excitement And all the days that you were so proud of me For everything that I did You told your friends, family, people at work When I got older you told my friends and boyfriends I never thought that I could walk a day in your shoes You were always stronger than I So much more woman I will never be you, but I will strive to be like you So as I wash my face and head out the door I will live my day in your memories Love, Ladycat Farewell my forever friend, may safe journeys in life always lead you home. |

This is wonderful. It struck a spark with me, the truths in it are strong and real. Nan (Pilgrim variety) |
