Goodnight Denver Sighing, “goodnight Denver, sweetest dreams,” though I know sleep isn’t coming for me. I’ve got too much noise inside this heart, got staring eyes of hers tearing me all apart. Her dark flaming hair and curved luster lips are calling me everywhere, and I know I’m lucid I know redheads kill me I fear though I’m losing it I know redheads save me. I need safe harbor, ghost to look at the city lights cry by dawnlight I’m toast. But goodnight Denver, I love you and yours. And I love you, sweet red, I’m crawling on all fours to fields of neurosis I’ve fed I’m trying to get to the point if there’s one I’ve read somewhere in some joint, off a lonely cold avenue, above the urinal I read it I wasn’t feeling very true but this psalm truly said it. Said, “All things must pass if your heart is beating fast.” That’s my mantra to impress there’s motto to save my ass but I digress... So good morning Denver, did you have any dreams? Share with me, share with her the nature of my schemes. Got a love I can’t live without a song to sing in the shower but for now I will fade out so, goodnight Denver, wake me in an hour. Brings back some memories, of nights I spent walking in downtown Denver. So busy on a Friday or Saturday night, so sleepy come 6AM Sunday. Now, vicariously enjoying the flavor of Denver. |

Thanks. Some pleasent times spent in Denver as well, for me. Hell, I was born there, and I now I live in the suburbs, not too far from the city. This piece was partly inspired by the Counting Crows song 'Goodnight L.A.', which has kind of an insomniac theme as well.
