I Had a DReam I had a dream that made me weep A million tears fell in my sleep My child was hungry and in pain And trembling lonely in the rain And every soul just passed on by They let him suffer, let him die I see the pictures all the time But this is different, this one’s mine And I was frail,I could not fight I could not save my child that night For he was just a dream that fled Across the shadows of my bed When I awoke I felt the fears Laid on my pillow, wet with tears I ran to see my child in bed And knelt beside his little head Dear Lord, please bless this child tonight For what I’ve seen has caused me fright I had a dream, dearLord, a dream It was more real than it would seem I saw my child down in the street Deprived of care by passing feet His eyes were sunken, lips were dry He had no teardrops left to cry The Lord said, “Look back on your dream Review the faces in the scene” The child was just a stranger’s son He was not yours, this little one The feet that passed him by unknown They were the footsteps of your own He was not mine? this precious child? He was a stranger’s all the while? How wretched is a soul as I Who cannot hear a stranger cry Who would not heed a whimpering moan If not a child of his own A million tears fell in my sleep I had a dream that made me weep Elizabeth Santos Oct 2, 2003 |

Elizabeth, I am Applauding this, even with its pain Such a nightmarish dream; Thoughts of a nurturer, expressed well For all to see... The worlds children belong to that "all", Weeping for these helpless ones, displayed In word creations, well done art arranged In a sad poetic theme.. Come read to me some poem, |

Some tears burn like acid, etching the soul as they come....but some tears heal, though the healing may be like that of a tree that's been struck by lightning. It is never the same, yet still a green and growing thing. I think your tears are this kind, though oaks grow slowly. ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸¸¸ºº> ~~(¸¸ ¸¸ºº> ~~~(¸¸ER¸¸ºº> |

Sometimes it takes a dream to wake us up, even when we are awake. This is not only wonderful in it's poetic value, but also in it's value as a life lesson learned. Your writing has always been and continues to be smooth as silk, complete in it's draw, and visually, emotionally ...... superb. Excellent indeed and so very nice to find one of yours. |
