Summer is fading softly
and Autumn brings with it
mixed emotions...

Distance
and echoes of yesterday
weigh heavy on my heart
as a sigh
held for too long

I remember too much
this time of year
and find, ‘why
is almost a constant
upon my lips
it’s never more than a whisper
regret isn’t pretty
when screamed.....

Soon
I will find my footing
here in the fallen leaves
and know once again
how good it feels
to exhale....

Absolutely beautiful and the touch of autumnal melancholy makes me sigh.

Very effective and visually inspiring piece. Your imagery is really very astounding. I could feel the Autumn breezes gently swirl around my heart as I read this lovely and enchanting piece.

*hugs* it's funny how a certain time of year can do that to a person

and then He created the horse...

Autumn seems to be the time for taking stock and remembering the past.  Love, Joyce
