She never expected to be trapped by this war’s futility, then history grabbed her by the hand, taught her to fight for her new homeland and now she doesn’t know which way she will go for she’ll be damned if she does and the same if she doesn’t if perchance her eyes should meet her distant cousin on a Baghdad street will they embrace in blood heritage or perish within a bullet’s barrage? * |

Hard times and cold hard facts. Ouch, reality sure bites. If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

I still think it time for coalition forces to leave the country to its own future...that's going to upset some hardliners for sure, but staying there gets uglier by the day...good write |

Kacy & Martin, You know, it occurs to me that you two social conscience people might be a good duet team. Just a thought. *I love making trouble* If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Thanks, Martin. Larry? whatcha up to? Actually, I think Martin often hits the truth line more squarely on center target than what I can do. |

What a thought provoking and timely piece. One could only imagine the decision of that day when two of the same heritage meet on opposite sides of the war. I am a little bit more prejudiced about the war in Iraq since my son spent four months in the Kuwaiti desert poised to go into Iraq. He is getting out of the Army this December. I am a bit more fortunate than most. My son is coming home. |

Very thoughtful write, Kacy. On the issue of let the Iraqi decide, I'm all for that. However, as the US has apparently bollixed up much of the infrastructure, who pays for that? And who does the work? And what is our moral obligation to provide the $$? You are always worth reading. Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

Thanks, Ken. This is a nightmare, what is happening in Iraq. Yes, it is for the Iraqui people to decide what form of government they want, and for them to rebuild the infrastructure to support a stable government. But since we've had such a huge hand in ripping that country apart, we have a moral and financial obligation to help it rebuild, hopefully with a coalition of fair and just leaders. I don't see how we can leave until a truly international coalition that includes peaceful Muslim leaders is prepared to help the Iraquis stabilize their homeland. Meanwhile, the death toll mounts, and too many of those dying are innocent children. Thank you, for your thoughtful reply. |

Hi, Kacy. Missed you. But at least tonight, I'm reading some. It is an unbelievable situation in Iraq....well, actually, everywhere. I think Mt. St. Helen's agrees! .....jo |

Hello Jo! Yes, St Helens was a bit sassy today, but appears to be snoozing quietly tonight. Yes, Iraq is only one hell hole that needs attention. There is much work to be done by peaceful thinking people. |

Thanks Eric, for reading and commenting. These times require strong words and actions, strong will to go against the tides that push us constantly into battles that only destroy, not further mankind's chances to prove humanity has a future in this cosmos. |

Not only is there much unrest worldwide, but we risk losing strings to heritages. Not that this is something new, as over history, we have recorded many events where some heritages have either been wiped out or at least stifled to the point of sadness. Very impactful write. Really like the presentation of it as well. |

Thank you so much for those words, Mark. And as Darfur comes to mind, so does the Trail of Tears. "I would sooner be honestly damned than hypocritically immortalized" Davy Crockett His political career destroyed because he supported the Cherokee, he left Washington D. C. and headed west to Texas In 1830 the Congress of the United States passed the "Indian Removal Act." Although many Americans were against the act, most notably Tennessee Congressman Davy Crockett, it passed anyway. [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (10-02-2004 05:41 PM).] |
