The Goddess saw her--concubine--
though the girl was peasantry
sailing with a basket laced
with the balance of belief
just this ripe enough for now
at the market wicker weave -

The Goddess saw her and she knew:
this girl would curtsey for the King
come the days of pageantry--
and the harvest moon would be
a celebration of the mead
and etchings on the moon.

The bitter dropped a pace of stone.
The Goddess let lace covering
make patterns on her face with sun-
so furied in the haste of love.

"I must warn my God," she thought.
"Women are the devil's wings,
and baskets as an offering
have crippled crown before."

The litter slumbered under foot
in sand that knew this liquid floor -
sinking into every step
soldiering the load of lore
wary of the sharp stone wedge
of pebbles, angled, swords.

*  *  *

Trumpets sounded at the sight
of elephants in dusk twilight
and as the bridge was drawing low
the Goddess cleaved her covering
as the stomp of wooden plank
rang the bells of home, she showed
the slightest sign of shivering
with the rattle of her bones
steady as the mighty night
flexed the flames of stars
atoned
only by the fall of light--
something fearful grows.

*  *  *

"A bath," she muttered to the knave.
The moon was low and Venus craved
the diligence of absolute
as Goddess soothed the principles
and hurried for the lave.

She pulled the string that tied her robe.
Impatience, wading into cold
waters of emotionless
and barked to maids,
"prepare my dress and bring to me my oils."

She lined creases of her eyes
and sprinkled powdered lies b'neath
her breasts and blood behind her knees--
the secrets of the witch, she reached
gathered drapes of summer sheers
crafted to caress the breast
by the measurement of hands
matched perfection to her King.

Musk and myrrh and cinnamon
permission to proceed to end
consent by biting of her lip
to bruise them swollen cherries hint
of what surely lies b'neath.

The Ladies waiting, polished hair
with hands of scent that promised there
was a hint of them somewhere
in hopeful nuptial.

The Goddess rang the bell.

*  *  *

The courtmen met her at her door,
a carpet rolled upon the floor
that the Goddess feet be spared
the grit of stone upon her toes.

Torches flickering fine light
through the corridors in time
pulsing heart fragility
to the chamber door of greet

God

by grace of charity
she sank humble to her knees
and glanced her eyes downcast to floor
her blush to cheek
her heart to pure

then I heard the Goddess pray:

"Let me be received," she begged.

*  *  *

God was generous that day.
He opened chambers to his bed,
munching grapes to wine he said,

"the concubine was sweet."

wow...this says sooooooo much, men will always be 'men' and women will always see through other women...nothing changes....except the imagery with which it is portrayed, I love this setting, my little one and I have been reading the Chronicals of Narnia, in which there are queen's and curtsy's...and I just love this

Licking me lips and thinking ... mmmmmm ... tis sweet the poetess more than the cherry without stem.

Such beauty you push with your pen, even in the trials of humanity lost.  I knew I was in for a treat when I clicked and I got double marshmellow with this one.

ohhhhhhh and yes, I will stay awhile as you requested.  Wouldn't want that year long search to start over again now would we?

And in the counting house the King was counting out his money
And his bedroom he counted out his honey
And as God amongst himself
He drew a sacrifice
Freely given
To bath him
In water
And an inner spirit

Monumental in the plays of word, deed, desire and emotion

dang! Lady, you ARE the goddess of passions with this write
such a well written tale, a passionate peek into the chambers of the heart and mind as well as all kind of thrones
keepin it, to sip these words again later

thank you

I could write for ya'll forever. (in fact, at times, it feels that way, don't it?)

And Sharon, the illustration thing was just suggested to me by the sister twist earlier, so maybe I'll have to break out the chalks--I never know WHAT I'm gonna do next.

But thank you all kindly for reading.

And stop all that bowing b.s.

It's just ME for cryin' out loud. (Keep doin' that Raph, Maree, and I'll give ya'll something to do while yer down there. )

Love to you all.
