The door of the barn faces Mt Hood, not so far from where you once stood for something. Where are your feet planted today? The harvested hay fields are a mirage. Shimmering heat waves cast scintillating spells upon all that dwells near the edge of timelessness. Caught in the grip of the mid-day sun, I dream of running across cool pasture grasses, with you by my side, in matching stride. Where did our sunset go? |

reruns? LOL I was sorry I didn't have the digital camera with me yesterday, JM, I saw the most gigantic beautiful moth on the barn door! The body was nearly the size of my thumb, and the wingspan the width of my palm! I thought of you, and smiled. |

You capture this scene so well! Lost loves and promises somehow never quite fade completely. Well done! Ken PS I don't know if you are a Barbara Kingsolver fan, but her "Prodigal Summer" has a moth entomologist as a woman character. It is a rich, rich novel with beautiful writing and characters. Should you choose it, try to get the audio version from the library. Barbara reads it with a wonderful back to the earth Eastern Kentucky accent. From your writings, I think you'd like it. Thanks to each of you, my friends, for your visit. Ken, thank you, I haven't read her works yet, but you are the second person who has suggested I read that particular author, the first to mention an audio. Guess it's time to hit the library or Powell's bookstore again. ![]() [This message has been edited by Midnitesun (07-18-2004 01:41 AM).] |

Mt Hood and Powell's books are landmarks to me too. Multnomah county carries her audios, printed version too I suppose. Barbara is one who writes like I wish I could. Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |
