As fragrant flowers fell upon the floor she slipped silently through the darkened room’s door no need to whisper for no one was there save the wind we all know about Mariah and why we never call out her name no one to blame except the self who would not play the game and passionate petals fall without echo while the heart beats the same as fragrant flowers fall upon the cold floor. |

Now this one is a thinker! (And it is sooo early in my day) I think lots of interpretations are possible, from a lost love to hurricane fear. Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

I agree with the others; this does have a little haunting mystery to it. It's very pretty and easy to visualize the fallen petals... miscellanea |

*sigh* Yes, Mariah is the haunting chill wind of lost love, lost opportunities. Ken, I never really thought about a hurricane scene, but see how it could be interpreted as such. Now that would put a different 'twist' on this. |

I could see the scene ..... falling petals have always a feeling of loss accompanying them. Passing beauty .... Beautiful write. Love, Margherita |

and passionate petals fall without echo while the heart beats the same as fragrant flowers fall upon the cold floor. Kacy, this is indeed hauntingly beautiful, and thanks for the explanation on Mariah, as I've never heard of this before. Very well done. Those above lines are beautiful! One could also think of "They call the wind Mariah" from Paint Your Wagon, also sung by the Kingston Trio many years ago. Ken Through rubble and trouble and dark of night |

My dad used to sing that all the time, it was one of his favorites. I always think of that song when I hear the name Mariah, or hear howling winds. And it seems to me, it's always been tied metaphorically to a sense of loss/loneliness. |

Kacy: this is hauntingly beautiful. I love to see this from you (the writing - not the feeling) |

Tis a wind of that 1st love, a wind of that race we didn't run, a wind to all those destinations that we chose to ignore. Very nice write and now you got me wanting to find a horse, saddle it up, and race the wind from here to eternity. --------------------- no one to blame except the self who would not play the game -------------------- much more in the above than just a simple thought that made it to the blue pages. Again, very much enjoyed the read. |

Sus, Lauren, thanking you, sweet poet sisters, for letting this wind spirit howl a bit. Mark, guess I'm busted? LOL, so now I'm visualizing you in 3D, riding off into the distance, lassoing a magnificent rainbow that's sitting on top of the next hill. |
