Cannot find the final answer have so many choices to make among so many interests, passions no one door seems to be the right one the key I inherited fits more than one and I am teased by them that they take wing chased towards keyholes to find the correct fit only master locksmiths know... Through that keyhole I allowed myself the pleasure of a good fictional read but my roots are non-ficiton am I then indecisive? Clearly with a wide cultural base one can be decisive in his choice, that may be confusion for the selective... but that is their imperfection... Oh my, have I been but betrayed that I did not choose a singular route but decided on a plurality of interests? When you spread yourself too thin you may wonder where you have been, but if you spread yourself too thick does that make life experience stick? |

insightful conclusion... it's bittersweet to realize, after reading this, that the choices and opprotunities we have don't get any easier as we get older. this comforts and discomforts me at the same time. guess that makes me indecisive... it's not that the future is near or far... |

Sequential or lateral has always been the choice More multi-talented people fair than those who are single-minded as they have a single mind Ask yourself as you walk out of a door - do you see a door or everything in between Yes I like your words but I almost felt you had gone far deeper than you chose, but a lot of people do make the lateral choice and fail because a sequential thinker will go straight thru them Dave |

What I love the most about reading you is I am always left with something to ponder... your writing makes me look deep, and search.... I think it's wonderful that to hold a key that unlocks many doors, providing multiple opportunities. But you are right, Martin, multiple choices can overwhelm. I understand this indecisiveness predicament, having spent most of my life unlocking as many doors as possible, yet not finding many I wanted to walk through without keeping an eye on the exit. And I keep a tight hold on that key. |

Dave, After pondering your statement "but a lot of people do make the lateral choice and fail because a sequential thinker will go straight thru them"... I think you'll agree that the failure of the lateral thinker, if there is one, isn't necessarily because he's taken a circuitous route but because even though the world is filled with prerequisites to get from A to B, getting to B is more often gained not by acquiring knowledge but by making the necessary contacts. The key is in the use of the contacts that a sequential or lateral thinker might make use of independant of their method of approach. Generally lateral thinking opens up new avenues of choice that a sequential thinker can only envy. |
