Undertoned

The many shades of you
hold me aside, on this day
when a word or two would have
brought a smile...
and so now I take my leave
to a place where solitaire
is my game and I hold the winning hand
for a change...

Why try, I ask myself...
why put myself out there
when I don't even know
where there is anymore
and those feelings
have brought me here
from a place where I was comfortable
thinking of you...
and should have taken you
to my dreams.

I am not perfect
and do not seek the same
but when I long to share
words or even silence
I want to know that someone
is there...
on the other side of gray.

I can relate to this Maureen...

good use of gray as to mean gray zone... an indecisive thought or uncommited gesture I'm guessing, nice introspective piece..

some men, as well as women, do not want to commit to a lasting relationship, and the older we get, the longer we're single, the more likely we are not to want marriage.

And yet, the concept of society is...if your not married, you're not a member in good standing.  Believe me...I know this, talked to a lot of people about it, doing research on the subject.  It holds true, even in homes for the elderly, when the spouse dies, and one is left behind, the married folk immediately start to disconnect?  And I don't believe many people are aware of this.

Good write, very much enjoyed, provoking all kinds of thoughts here...smiles and hugs

This is great, and I wonder what colour it is on "the other side of gray"

Enjoyed
