Cool Wind & Lily Cool wind and lily the rain is coming in we run back into our room looking a bit silly wasting the afternoon and trading poetry I, my W.B. Yeats you, your Edgar Allen Poe soon we're down to smiles and tickling little toes cold against my chest she's pushing me away laughing, this is my test this girl is my brand new day So we lay entwined the storm playing tambourine to Joni Mitchell's 'Little Green' singing, sipping wine we'd say, let's waste our time kissing and calling room service wishing and falling into eachother no need to feel nervous no need to feel unsure we'll take our time at being lovers be together through the summer and understand these commitments come autumn time understanding what real love meant come our adult time For now let's play like high school kids would for now let's say, like young lovers would we can dare the world and love eachother every night all through the night to the rainbow light in the morning cool wind and lily scents through the window in the morning did we understand what true love meant after dawn had discovered us in the bed entwined and the empty bottle of wine the skipping turntable the car keys on the table cool wind and lily elation greet the new green day look and see what's in store meet the new expectations of not being a high school kid anymore for these buds are blossoming into this sweet spring love so real, so right, so true this love "Poets are all who love, who feel great truths, and tell them; and the truth of truths is love." --Philip James Bailey |
