Standing there, alone…looking into the azure ocean Of the Caribbean…I knew I had returned…ohhhhhh Such delicacy and enigmatic grace… I sighed, welling up like a Child at Christmas…but then, that innocence somehow has Always remained…that lust for looking in the mirror…of life Simply knowing there was much more…an exquisite sensibility It was authentic and calm, mixed with inner blessings…great compassion. Bright allusions, mastering the strategy of well placed Instincts…functional light with a rather tangible persuasion Pirouetting within the family of living, the significance and verve Of the ocean, luring me like silvery streamers tugging at my very core I did not realize or care to turn from this extreme compassion This superstitious guardian lapping a citrus of scents onto the shore Glazed with an element of navigating rivers…sea weed and corals There, standing alone, I’d always known I wanted to loose myself…in the oils of this velvety Mind altering enigma…standing there alone….actually since a child On that beach of many beaches…reading the Braille of the horizon With every sensory perception of my being…there was always another presence It is an almost predictable harmony, one that periodically, I owned And not only was it mine, but me, as well… Since my first visit to the Jersey shore, when I’d been only five years old Other children would build sand castles, while I confessed the flowery lichens Of isle’s beyond, catapulting me into a freedom…realizing the voices, hearing the call Crossing the vast Atlantic for eons…combining with all those spiritual photographs Dancing in a wilderness of a sea rising into moments of pure elation Granting imagination & a long season of immaculate fields of sheer beauty, Where need becomes very short and stocky and there only open high windows with Gigantic arms… I lost myself in the details of sweet sounding words of the sea Along with songs of a full moon sanctioned by waves and tides..and we Choreographed by these very moments, and the next and the next after that Fattening me, never grimacing, as I haply sang along out of key With each new freshly born crest, creating…creating something Maybe a once-in-a lifetime mind’s eye of the Gulf Stream Feeding me roses from an underwater forest As if regarding the eldest child in me and everyone I had known… When that curiosity or hunger for knowledge, piqued my feelings, I miscarriaged any and all prior conditioning…somehow knowing there was more…. Standing there alone, knowing, reaching, hearing your voice The sea and it’s horizon beyond, was & is, my love letter and companion For all these years, which grew not tired, but like an endless man of leisure, Stepping out into an immeasurable bright light of some never-ending dimension When I saw such immensity and vastness, yet, knowing all I had do, was but to feel Reach out and trust that horizon, it was there…standing with me on the beach As the background frequency of beach noise would so generously fade into mist Like some endearment of harmonious passion, rarely worshiped And the exotic smell of this, are all my needs In wine-splashed memory…7 months was enough to last a lifetime And on this, each and every day, I will sit down to feast, seeing something understanding everything Even when I’ve a mind not to, to me, you were that horizon, standing there with me Alone on the beach…perhaps knowing more about each other then we’d care to admit Like a spontaneous gesture of great soaring gulls…gulls with soaring eyes of a rainbow Reaching out to each other, no matter where we are We were simply much too young and afraid to identify it? And perhaps it was supposed to be just that…no more, no less, and yet The great discernment is much more then touching without touching Feeling without feeling…it is in fact…like taping a into a silent movie which comes to you there we are again, walking arm in arm in Williamsburg, or the surprise of the ponies on the beach...the vastness of many picnics on the floor or just simply hearing you peacefully sleeping next to me, or that night you held me close on the Cape May Ferry or mass quantities of Key Lime Pie at the Washington Art Gallory...smiles When you least expect it…it’s always there, those memories, so vivid…so completed Every single moment we spent so generously In the vastness of this universe, we were...can you imagine...we actually found each other? How miraculous! So I sail the sea and every ocean, contented and pleased with a smile For there is in my heart the rhyme of completeness I always knew that horizon would come and take me by the hand And He did...even if just for just a moment, we loved so...didn’t we? I 'm no longer nor ever will be again, standing there alone |

Mind altering enigma…standing there alone….actually since a child On that beach of many beaches…reading the Braille of the horizon With every sensory perception of my being…there was always another presence It is an almost predictable harmony, one that periodically, I owned And not only was it mine, but me, as well… Since my first visit to the Jersey shore, when I’d been only five years old I SIT on the jerseyshore too these days and understand from the exquisite words of yours and somtimes even unknown way to express this call to home i know very well myself. |
