Meadow Pause Burst of years explode across the grains of oak Leaving footprints to mark a path of memories Journals of history etched in green velvet cloak Carving a new chapter with each spring breeze Elderly winds rise to ivy birth of fresh blooms Laced in spiral corrosion of barbed wire trapeze Briars of tormented years pierce ageless plumes Against veils of bridal dew laced in pastured seas Emeralds upon topaz sway in whispering stalks Naive to the blushing of new dawn filled decrees Shackled dance of meadowlark in horizon walks Sing in echoed chambers of morning glory tease Monarchs bathe in rainbow drizzles illuminated Arching their way across a shy blue of sky chablis' Bouquet of floral aromas swirl to winds saturated In pollen parades captured in bumble bee squeeze Staircase of day banistered in goldfinch song delay Echoed between walls of jasper in whispering keys Chipmunks bathe in solar dance of morning play While willows recline against the shadows of ease Hazelnut picnic blanketed in quilted poppy delight Sheltering squirrel scurry to silhouettes of hawk tease Another page written in a chapter waiting for night Pausing for the ink to dry on another elderly breeze Mark Christopher |

Mark....it is so good to see you!!! You still paint so beautifully! I was hoping when I saw you wandering around, that we would be given a poem. Can you stick around for awhile? I've missed you! ![]() |

Mark, the palette you paint with is exquisite. My nose is pleasantly tickled and these eyes are thankfully filled with this most beautiful sensual array of nature, all wrapped together with a ribbon of seeing/understanding the gifts of life that surround us. Your poetry is always a delicious treat. And this time, the title also gave me a giggle. |

Dixie - Yes, they usually do. Thank you for sharing a pause. Martie - Thank you sweetie and I will be around. Sort of been lurking in the background for awhile now anyway. Hugs back to ya. ThisDiamond - Thank you and glad you enjoyed. Midnitesun - Delicious works for me. Thank you so very much for that nice reply and glad to have given you a giggle as well. |

WOW! I could melt in the light of your words, the beauty that they shed. You capture nature in its divinity. Bravo! ![]() ![]() Happiness isn't something that happens to you, it's created from within you. Joy is a state of mind. |

Mysteria - Thank you and if you find it worthy of keeping then I am grateful. Karen - With you next to me with every step, then how could I not pause and take in the beauty now and then? Thank you very much sweet lady and you know I like it when you do your Streisand imitations. Susan - I am glad you found the beauty in the words but let's hope you don't melt. Hard to pen when your fingers be liquid. Thanks so much. Marge - Osiyo and thank you. Words truely are beauty if you use them right. Kari - Hope that touch you mentioned means you enjoyed. Nice to be back. Suetang - Nature truely does have many beautiful things to offer and I always try to pay attention to as much of it as possible. Thank you dearly. Snow - I do appreciate those kind words and it thrills me also that you were thrilled with the read. Thank you much. Duncan - Got a dollar? lol Thank you and you know the tiger was going to eventually drag me back in even if only to give your porch puppy and wake up call. Dave - Thank you and I am glad you did. Earth Angel - Everyone needs a pause now and then and I do thank you for the divine you found in this piece. Got a hat rack? |

I don't know that I have ever experienced such imagery that extends well beyond pages, and screens, or even taking me there. The imagery surrounds me, breathes, me in, makes me a part of it (more than being there - being in it entirely). I have find words to describe such talent failing me. I am simply in awe. I wish I could convey, in this simple post, how much your poem enveloped me. I am left with in awe. I can't wait for another post of yours. Your poetic friend, Kevin |

Mark it is a pleasure to read you again. To merely say I love this is not near enough, but please know that I do. I lost your all of my email addeys some time ago when my computer crashed so please excuse my silence. Now, it is my turn to beg and tell you that I truly hope we are blessed to see more of your wonderful writing soon. (and I don't beg often either... ![]() The greatest beauty on earth, is |

Well well, lookie what we have here.... Mind if a moth worships this properly?? ![]() Burst of years explode across the grains of oak Leaving footprints to mark a path of memories Journals of history etched in green velvet cloak Carving a new chapter with each spring breeze ================================= I just love that opening...visually as well as poetically. One of the things I've always loved about your poetry is your ties to the passage of time...to seasons in change and to all the history that nature holds and what we can learn from it... that verse encompasses so much of that..as well as the infusion of writing. Elderly winds rise to ivy birth of fresh blooms Laced in spiral corrosion of barbed wire trapeze Briars of tormented years pierce ageless plumes Against veils of bridal dew laced in pastured seas ============================== Only you could write of barbed wire fences and make it be so poetic. *S* As always your imagery paints us a landscape panaramic. Emeralds upon topaz sway in whispering stalks Naive to the blushing of new dawn filled decrees Shackled dance of meadowlark in horizon walks Sing in echoed chambers of morning glory tease Monarchs bathe in rainbow drizzles illuminated Arching their way across a shy blue of sky chablis' Bouquet of floral aromas swirl to winds saturated In pollen parades captured in bumble bee squeeze Staircase of day banistered in goldfinch song delay Echoed between walls of jasper in whispering keys Chipmunks bathe in solar dance of morning play While willows recline against the shadows of ease Hazelnut picnic blanketed in quilted poppy delight Sheltering squirrel scurry to silhouettes of hawk tease Another page written in a chapter waiting for night Pausing for the ink to dry on another elderly breeze ======================================= My oh my...talk about imagery overload...I am giddy. *L* ...Its so hard to pic faves from those verses... SO many stunning images of nature...you write with color...with texture... with all the senses fully stimulated and aware....then you wrap those images up with the coolest personifications and analogies...metaphoricly and symbolism savy. The use of hazelnut was just so original and cool.. and this........... a shy blue of sky chablis' stunning....and very very cool... as is your vocabulary and word play...and the clever rhyme scheme you employed. Then lets talk about your assonance..the mix of alliterations, similar sounds, and cadence made for a smooth flow--this was a treat to read aloud. I didnt need my camera for this one... you captured every lovely scene in this meadow of your poetic mind. (but if I had been there...it woulda been a 5 roll hike.) ![]() Awesome, beautiful writing MC. I would love to live as a river flows, carried by the surprise of its own unfolding. ~Fluent~ John O'Donohue |

Midnitesun- Thank you for the re-visit and I am elated you found it worth coming back to. Enchantress - Thank you very much and glad to have jump started your senses. Maybe a new replacement for coffee? Naahhhhhhhh!!! Kevin - I do appreciate your visit and you letting me know your reaction to this piece. If you were able to become part of it then I feel I have succeeded in the write as I do feel that is what writing is about. ( Being able to share a thought, moment, experience, etc ... enough for another to truely understand what you are trying to convey. Again thank you and I very much appreciate the visit. Kit - Well hello there girl and thank you dearly. I am truely happy you felt it good enough to dive into and I always appreciate your visits. DS - and always a treat to be read by you. The chrome may be a bit tarnished but nothing a little polish won't take care of. Thank you. Gentle Spirit - I am happy you enjoyed I thank you much. vandana - Thank you dear poet and I am glad you enjoyed. Been a long time but always a pleasure to see you. JM - Well when ya get as old as I be, then time is definitely something ya need to tie yourself into, and besides, if it weren't for the seasons changing now and then, I would have permanent sun burn or frostbite. As for you needing your camera, well, just remember not to point it this way. LOL Thank you sweets for always letting me know where I stand in my poetry and guiding me to the successes of it in order to continue striving to grow. It helps tremendously to know what parts stand out and for that I can always count on you. Thanks again for you and the friendship we share. |

LeeJ - You snuck in on me. I am of course overjoyed that you found adventure in this and I truely thank you for the visit. Midnitesun - You could just make up a picnic basket and bring a blanket, spend the day, might save your poor feet from all that walking back and forth. LOL Thank you again sweet lady, you humble me. |
