With all love betrayed My heart broke and frayed My tale. In my fifth decade Feeling old and greyed I dwell. Viewing life's charade As past is replayed Tears well. Old feelings invade As past loves parade Their spell. Once lost in their veil How my heart did swell So true. Into their webs jail Heart and soul I fell Unto. Feeling love's prevail For me would not fail Joy grew. I gave all avail Truly, I so tell All knew. Then without a clue All would go askew Love strayed. Each time love was through I slowly withdrew Heart flayed. My life left to rue No hopes of rescue I prayed. My life all astrew Theres naught I can do Price paid. "always be true to SELF, and follow your heart.." |

Once you've paid that high price, you shouldn't have to keep on paying. But for many, the tab keeps coming back. A good poignant write. |

I liked the beat of this...the way you formed each grouping of lines and rhymes was unique...but very effective. Good job. |
