The Shores of Alone

How can the mearest touch-a taste of love
result in flooding of my feelings so?
Why yet the drifting thought of jaded eyes
should take my thoughts to places I can't go?

How shall my heart become whole once again
when nothing passes by my fingertips?
No hardened muscles do I ever feel
no painful pressure full upon my lips.

How next to dabble in the art of love
as none till now has ever given back
an ounce of gold, just pennies for my hopes
which rapidly are turning now to black.

Sandra:

To give one's heart
with expectation
breaks it apart
in isolation

For some gifts can't
be given back
if like a plant
they have caused a crack

...but I know what you mean.  It's easier to talk about serenity than it is to live it.

Sandra,  when the day comes that you are
once again in love...I am going to raise
a toast to you....you so deeply deserve
that in your life...and I wish you that gift
more than you might ever know.

Yes,  good to see you gracing the pages
again,  even if only sporadically.

I too feel the ache in this.  Sad.  But someday you will know how, for answers often lie just around the corner.

Best to you -- Susan

Sandra, you have such a beautiful soul. One day true love will find you. Patience after all is a virtue. Hugs, Chris

A touch that’s warm and makes me whole
A love that’s pure and true
A body that I love to hold
The all that’s known to few

To find respect unspoken in word but with the heart
To feel the warmth of skin to skin and love
To find your place of sanctuary before hope does depart
Is what I pray each night to God above

To hold the dream that’s calling each night till mornings wake
Would be what makes survival worth the pain
To hear the words I love you, not thoughts of life’s mistake
Would bring back my desires that barely now remain

Dear Sandra, enjoyed the read, hope you find some love and someone to hold soon dear friend, take care and be well.

Sincerely
Rick

You are all so sweet, and Rick, that poem was so perfect. Sometimes life just makes you feel this way, I'm ok overall though.

That is a question that only time can answer, I think....and one that carries with it the pain of absent love.  Beautifully written, as you always do, and it touched my heart....~S~

"How next to dabble in the art of love"

We are always so hopeful for the next one, wishing somehow we've learned and so has the next potential in our life.  Well done.  KJ

This had some very unique metaphors. I enjoyed reading it. Somehow relate to it as well.
