Picture Promenade

there’s a giant goose
with an elephant’s trunk
speeding across the sky

trailing behind–
giant road-runner dust
from his rump to the setting sun

have you ever been
picture walking
beneath a cloud-pocked heaven

it’s mighty fun near end of day
when doors are closing
and toys are put away

one can see dreams
in those alabaster streams
that float within the blue

all you need is a playful mind
and freedom to expose it
for the simple joy it brings

I suppose I should eliminate the last stanza...but at this point it's there. Maybe it's proclaiming my "right" to dream as a child.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

"have you ever been
picture walking

~ This is a wonderful way to describe this experience! Perfect!

And might I add, that from my perspective, the last stanza is a meaningful close to this fine poem!

From a fellow cloud gazer,
~ A big, happy hug!

I think you should leave the last stanza there, cuz I think it's a nice end...

Thanks, all!!! And Lee J, twice. Thanks for the bump up.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
