This, is Why

You hold a mirror before you, first thing in the morn;
All you perceive is yourself, tired, weary, and forlorn;

So let me be your reflection, in all that I would say,
For I bless your essence, on this, and every day.

I have seen the good in you, and all that you would work;
For you are giving of yourself, from this, you do not shirk.

You think you do not have much, yet you offer and you give;
It’s all in fun and freedom, and you encourage all to live!

This kind and gentle you, who would treat a hummingbird
By planting flowers, feeding nectar, speaking a softer word…

This, a man who surely sees some beauty in each heart,
Thus, the man that I would see, giving life a quick jump-start

This is why I ask you to let me have one last word…
For little though I say, is more than you have heard.

This is why you are one to carry any dream…
Such as the one that makes your eyes hold to that shining gleam…

This is why I am proud of you, for everything you are;
This is why I hold you up, to be my evening star.

You tell me to be strong, you carry me all the way through,
Yet, sometimes, love, you can’t let me be there for you ~

Soon you may; someday you will ~ let me dwell within your heart;
For this is why, all reasons unknown, we shall never part.

This is so beautiful... and given an ongoing discussion between my girlfriend and I regarding what I do and don't bring to our relationship (in my opinion); this one touches me deeply. I will be sending her here to read this.
