Her Favorite Haunt  In quiet, she slips from behind the trees To skip and dance along the lanes so green, Now see the points upon which she will swirl, For she’s in tune with her shadows, serene. As if with a brush, she dapples sunlight To spread before grace, in time’s harmony, Then if by some chance a footstep she hears, She becomes once more, utter mystery. But it is just I, a bard in pretend, Still in search of my very own muse; If I am silent, she might then return, To lend lone pen melodious clues. Haunt me again, oh, my muse of the lane; Haunt me once more, for I would thus plead; Haunt me again, oh, you lover of words, That I lay down in your forest, my seeds.
