Wearing Jeans

it seems
a Levi morning
before I dig and spade

to slip on
extra warmth
before I thrust the blade

tackling
vegetation
from growing gone awry

can be a
cumbersome challenge
to a shirking drone as I

but I’ve been
given wisdom
to battle loathsome grass

empowered
drone of miracle
before this summer’s passed

the miracle
of labor
I savor at the helm

despite the
rampant vegetation
it shall not overwhelm

dig and spade
repeated
each day I have a chance

shall set me
in the autumn
a lovely joyful dance

(so now I shall embark upon putting my words where my muscle is; out of my head and into my appendages)

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

LOL, and don't forget the rubber boots,  since it looks like good duck weather outside today.

I like this - yes, a jeans kind of day.

Thanks, all!

I gotta tell ya, though, that it's more than cutting the grass...it's trying to get to the root of it and eradicate it. It's grass whose above ground measurements are 3 to 4 feet long, methinks. It's tangled in and around volunteer shrubs and other weeds I want to bid adieu to, as well. I lasted about an hour, but there are more hours of this week-end remaining.

Oh, and I'm on the more eastern side of the state, we do have totally overcast skies today, but I'll be surprised if we get rain of any measurable quantity. Wouldn't hurt, tho.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.

We had a bit of rain this morning...I hope more comes, though, as we are still in drought conditions, albeit the rain we've had this spring and summer...some places just never get enough...

Enjoyed this jeantime, Virginia...

Virginia,
I always enjoy your light hearted spirit and the pleasure of being outdoors with you! Thank you.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Virginia, howz 'bout I send you some sprinkles? I'm in Yamhill, and we've had a pleasant amount of rain this week.
I'd offer you a hand but it seems as if you're more an an hour drive away.
Still, maybe a poetic meeting sometime soon?

Say, Midnitesun, they arrived right around noon. Gotta say I'm surprised just how much rain we got by 2:00. I think there was enough to measure after all...of course, nothing like the Willamette Valley gets. :O+

Oh, and I'm 3 to 3 1/2 hours away from Portland alone, but I'll take the help in spirit on my digging project, for sure.
Thanks.

Thanks all for your encouraging and cheery comments.Love to give smiles, that's certain.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
