Fighting the Stream
(inspired by Sun. message titled "A Clean Heart" given by Dr. Pryor)

Aching and tired of the battle,
weakened of purpose
toward loyalty and truth,
no longer willing
to bear the struggle
of fighting the stream. . .

I turn,
deceive myself,
promise truth,
while hiding reality
through rationalization.

Yet the depth
of the crimson stain
flows its pain across the land;
it permeates the sand
with guilt and scarring.

Wash me, oh, God,
cleanse my path,
my heart, my spirit.
Fill me with truth and joy.
Grant me Your perfect mercy

that I may walk
anew in You.
