Visiting Earth on a Guest Pass

Evening

It is one thing to watch
the moon gate open wide,
surge through in spirit or
in something like imagination,
take my solace in the visions
of eternal, patched with fantasy;

It is yet another to look
for hope in bars of cloud
with a little light at the edges,
seek fortune in the spacing
of these frail stars.

How much better, though
less sweet, to find a sustenance,
slender, yearning, ever present
in this simple yard,
hold for these few moments,
merely listen to the sound
of plums growing.

merely listen to the sound

Reaping the fruit in your own back yard...
Sounds like a good thing to do.  Enjoy.
Enjoyed,

There are times when I know you could give lessons... not just on how to write... but on how to live... and value every moment. *S*

This is superb!!!

Sir, I believe there is only one very
fine remark that poets who truly enjoy
an offering as fine as this, can say:

IWIHWT

For I truly do!

You render the evening with such a sensitive sound,
and a sense of well being of that time and space in between.

This is you at your best,  Ed~

I loved the pictures this painted.  It reminded me of a song I hear on the radio quite a bit where he states that his favorite view is, "from the front porch looking in."  I would have to say that regardless of what your looking at, as long as your home, your feeling good.  Beats the Hell out of looking at the machines on the production floor, anyway!  This poem was engaging and I loved it!
