i remember those trumpeting days
when dreams shivered and tossed
over the breath of sea

some were colourful

even daisies sprung from the swell
of shells
sea-bitten and akimbo

holding all I could

(the cry of gulls
the soft slap of waves
tales of legendary mermaids
jilted brides and the
ovalness of fish
)

i’d make visible the steely forms
in birth of night
shifting through the salt-mist

phantasmagoric

yes

the darkness breaks me in
my crippling
and there’s no forgetting the
birth of fishes tail

that bangs at my shut windows

The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colour, but the sea, does not change.

Like this very much.

And it would be hard to forget the imagery of this poem!

I spent as much of my summer taking costal walks, or cliff sitting taking photographs as possible. Personally, this reminds me of the spell that the sea can put upon me, and I love it.

I'd forgotten about this series!

p.s a berk is a silly person, an idiot.

phantasmagoric

yes

the darkness breaks me in

The point of this poem is not so much to
take one on a walk across a beach,

but to feel the surreal of the twilight...

at least, to me.

And to me, little one...
this is a marvelous addition to your lighthouse series.

Such wonders and mysteries of the sea we would so much like to understand.  And that shifting through the salt-mist .... well, that beacon searchs for us, guides us, but it too is constantly chasing the waves, looking for that one path of understand.

Excellent imagery and the flow ........ Superb.  Your lines and line breaks are perfection and give us only as much as we need, nothing more nothing less, just complete enough.  A very enjoyable read from start to finish.

Not always to shut windows,
yet always to seek attention,
from such a beautiful soul.

Though my understanding of your writing is limited,
I do appreciate the soul of you.
