Inside Me Inside me you belong inside me with spinning Beatles records cold dawns and scrap paper poetry there's a place for you inside me 'cause you belong inside me with your honey voice singing slow songs and childhood memories where we shared a stoplight and the afternoon air follow me follow me on down through dying strip malls crying skies and emotional breakdowns that have been promised to us to invade us this will persuade us to stare into eachother's eyes where eachother spies a place inside for us inside me inside you happy love and blue guitars frozen pens thawing bleeding coffee cup poetry we shared in embraces melting together we're melting together now like those old records in the sun and these hard candy memories sticking to my mind inside this time we're toasting to this time with flowing rain and white rum running through the sprinklers finding our place there between the setting sun and the rising moon inside me inside you a candle burning in eachother scared by the wind trying to get inside us again inside our love "Poets are all who love, who feel great truths, and tell them; and the truth of truths is love." --Philip James Bailey |
