Butterfly Sky
By Larry Chadwick
In memory of Lyra and thinking of David

I took a walk into the woods this morning,
I was looking for my favorite chipmunk.
So I wandered up to a gorgeous tree,
And stood patiently by its trunk.

And after a while the silence turned to activity,
Which gave me a chance to ask what I wanted to know.
“Has anyone seen my favorite chipmunk?
I would like to know which way did she go?”

And to a chipmunk they all pointed up.
No matter who I asked the answer was the same.
And then along came a butterfly,
That knew without hesitation my chipmunks name.

She said “If you’ll follow me I’ll take you to her,
And, by the way, you are looking for Madame Chipmunk?”
That is when I knew I had come to the right place,
When I visited this big old tree trunk.

Immediately that butterfly flew away,
Flying straight up to heaven, showing where she had gone.
Not realizing I was unable to follow, I watched her disappear.
And then I realized Madame Chipmunk had gone on.

Oh, please send this to her husband...remind him that none of us have forgotten our very own favorite chipmunk.

And thank you for your heart!

She has gone on, but her spirit is alive and well, that's the only way she would have it!
I'm sure she is smiling at this and you with that everlasting twinkle in her eyes.

Hugs to you,  Larry Dear~

Though unaquainted with the story behind this, it is a lovely story and a kind gift.

Thank you Karilea, but I have no idea what his address is.

Kacy,
Thank you. I'll try.

Duncan,
I'm sure that many of us do. Thank you.

Lori,
I know we all miss her. Thank you sweet lady.

Sy,
Yes sir, I'm with you. Thanks.

Susan,
I did not mean to skip you, sorry. Indeed Madame Chipmunk was quite a lovely addition to our home. Any effort spent in getting to know her through her writing is time well spent. And thank you for taking the time to reply and to help honor her memory.

Cathy,
Do a little search and you will discover our favorite chipmunk. And thank you.

Thank you Susan, that is a lovely compliment.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Truly a lovely dynamic lady as I would like to remember her from the days before I was first introduced to this site through her..she carried a heavy load due the loss of her son and husband that I will always rememeber. May she be always remember for her vitality in the face of such loss. Thank you Larry for wrting this tribute to a fine lady. You are dearly missed Lyra.

Linda,
Well dear lady, thank you. It is good to think of her often. I'm not sure how many know that when she buried her son and the coffin was lowered into the ground a butterfly flew up out of the ground. It was to her a very special sign. And so it has major implications in the honoring of her memory.

Nancy Lee,
Thank you. It will require a little research but I'm pretty certain I can figure out how to get this to him.

scorpio,
Thanks and that is a very good thing.

Martin,
You provide several surprises. I did not know you knew each other and I had no idea we are blessed with your presence because of her. I am honored at your response and join you in the mutual repsect held for Lyra and how she handled life's challenges.

Dixie,
I understand.

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

OhLarry~
How very tenderly this touches me on this morn~

When we gathered in New Poet Richey, Lyra ... tiny little thing that she was ... came with a smile, a hug and so much LIFE~
She was truly as beautiful as her poetic thoughts .. no, even more so~

You reminded me of this oldie of mine ...~
/pip/Forum72/HTML/001073.html

In the patio I have the Papaya tree that I named Lyra after getting the seed from the fruit of a tree in New Poet Richey~
She grows stronger everyday~

This is a BEAUTIFUL blessing to read ... thank you~

David has made it through his chemo with flying colors, and also moved to smaller quarters now.  He said he felt the guiding hand of Renay in the purchase of a new home and the move.  Sure enough ... the back yard is a chipmunk haven!  God does work in the strangest ways that is for sure.  She is missed but not forgotten.

He sure enjoys getting the comments sent when anyone reads about his beloved lady that is for sure.

(angel friendship hugs) God Bless You, dearest friend, I still remember Lyra with all my heart, as she will always be one of my best Passions friends, and I believe the impression she has left here in Passions is immeasurable, for the love of her golden heart continues to flood these pages each day! (wipes tears) Now she is a chipmunk with wings, and her dream has been fulfilled to fly, and she forever flies among us in heart and spirit! (hugs) God Bless You, dearest friend, you also flood these pages with love, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Larry, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
