Listening to every heart

0 posted 2004-09-12 09:36 AM

Do you know me?

I am the beginning of long shadows,
memories that will stretch into winter’s light,
sitting quietly on white meadows ~

I am the end of summer, and the first steps
into the fall,

Oh, you will see blue skies in winter, surely,
before gray comes to drop white onto meadow’s traces
for only in the dew of morning
could you find the deer’s trail now,

but, do you know me?

Do you feel me, the first cool blushing brush
of winter’s breath, before the trees turn to bare, nakedly
dancing among winter’s sting?

Do you sense my presence, feeling the ghost
of other falls, and long intent?

All of this comes from rebirth, all of this stems
from the need of earth to feed its inhabitant, all of this…

for all of this…

is the natural tide of prairie song, and meadowlarks,
as the Canadian goose flies overhead, going south,
their own song a solemn call, goodbye,
but only for a short time.

For if you know me, you know that I am but
a season adrift, following summer,
welcoming winter, which will in turn
echo its’ own call to spring,

and if you know spring…

then you know all things come,
naturally and unconditionally,
willingly, purposefully,
in their own time,
in their own
season.

~*~

My thanks to our good friends,
J&M, and for the times spent
on some lovely land.

Karilea..so beautiful this is..
Yes I know autumn and feel it in the air now in the mornings.
Your words are melancholy, yet there's a feeling of comfort,
in knowing that the seasons are constant.
Always there...always returning.
This is a very special write m'friend and is library bound.
Hugs YOU!

A seed has to die and be buried to be able to grow. Nicely done...

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.

Sigh - you paint the changing seasons so beautifully.

You've captured the subtleness of seasons' transition in this beautiful poem Karilea.

Karilea, this is a beautiful poem. The picture brings back memories of when I was with my husband living out in the country. He worked a pasture just like this. I am sure he is planting, now, preparing for the winter.

Time is the clutch
That engages the cycle of seasons.
Relentlessly and effortlessly,
We are dragged along.

Love to read you.  Ken.

The yawn of a dawn will hasten the light

Do you know me?
A mist upon horizon gray,
rust upon the autumn day?

Do you know me?
The feel of white
hidden in frost opaque,
nail-scratched letters in display?

Do you know me?
Dots of nestled green
Under springing love careen?

Do you know me
Packed and tanning
With intermittent
Seasonal scanning?

(and so on...  My poetic juices are goin, goin, gone!  Oh well, your poem just got me started!  Have a good one, Karilea!
    love and hugs,

What an atunement you display in this poem!  Sunshine...I love autumn and I miss it so.  I could smell autum in the air when I used to live in the Midwest.  Here in Texas, we do have an autum, but it is much more subtle.  Enjoyed.......jo

Do you feel me, the first cool blushing brush
of winter’s breath, before the trees turn to bare, nakedly
dancing among winter’s sting?

yes, yes yes, and love this season as much as summer, though, it does make me sad to see summer fall to sleep.

Do you sense my presence, feeling the ghost
of other falls, and long intent?

ahhhh yes indeedy, but the good news is, the long intent of whats yet to come

All of this comes from rebirth, all of this stems from the need of earth to feed its inhabitant, all of this…

for all of this…

is the natural tide of prairie song, and meadowlarks, as the Canadian goose flies overhead, going south, their own song a solemn call, goodbye, but only for a short time.

welcoming winter, which will in turn

and if you know spring…

then you know all things come,
naturally and unconditionally,
willingly, purposefully,
in their own time,
in their own
season.

AMEN, you have done with your words that my mother has been trying to do for years
Teach me the importance of patience...now off to put it to work...smiles and hugs
wonderful music you make
and that picture just seems to be a good fit!

Bravo Lady, your amazing!
