There are too many times when
the busy-ness of a day
makes time fly away,

as if something important
had filled up the whole
of a day

and yet,
at sun's set

I look over my shoulder and see

Nothing

and I’m left wondering what it is
I did with my 24 hours.

Even more importantly,
I am wondering

what will I do

with the next 24 (or more)
if I am given the chance to

Be
Here
Now

will I look back
in repeat mode,
and suffer asking again

what did I do?

Will I look back and say

"Nothing" ????

* Be Here Now * is a spiritually enlightening book written by Baba Ram Dass

Good morning Miss Dixie,
it's a philosophical/spiritual statement. It's also the title of a book by Ram Dass. Well worth the read, if you aren't familiar with it.

McGroves, good morning, and thanks for reading!

I first read "Be here now" in the early 70s.  Thanks for the trip back.  The question of how we use our time is always a haunting one.  Good job on getting me to reflect on mine.  Ken

ES, thank you for the visit
Kristabell, thanks!
Ken, you are more than welcome. I first read Ram Dass in the mid '70's, and found this book especially enlightening.
And I'm currently reassessing my own time committments, making some major changes as of NOW.

It has been good pondering those questions with you.  So much wisdom here... the book sounds interesting-thanks.

I  Like to delude myself,
pretending I’ve been busy
when in fact I’m really not,
or that something’s really happening
although nothing seems to be.
Now I’m going to be fifty
And I’ve done what?
I mean … people my age,
Well, some of them anyway,
By now have married, bought a house,
Had children and divorced,
And bought a house, got married,
Had children and divorced,
And bought a house … …
The Starlight and Midnitesun
Are getting to be old fogies now …

JAIME! I am roaring with laughter now.
Old fogies?  Hehe, maybe so.
