This Bitter Wind Bitter wind takes flight in this October sky beckoning its due dissolution. Tears fall upon the beleaguered leaf only to race along its augured course and drop into this abyss of sorrow. Lamentations report dismay amidst evergreen brethren. They are without understanding as they have not yet begun to color and falter at the frost. Unwilling is this tree to bow in defeat As it holds fast to it's elected friend. Bitter wind resigns not, but endures to victory as it plucks from the fold it's frail friend. Survivors of this bitter wind grapple with the leave's untimely ascension. Amazement succumbs them all as life anew rises. And, as they ponder this evergreen leaf in flight They find its captor, not in contempt, but simply conspiring to deliver their friend from mortality at the foot of their Father. Frailty does not sit at the table of grace. Nor does color flee from the report of Fall. These leaves we lament do not wither, and fall away in the darkness of October's sky. To the contrary my friends, their message is evident and unrelenting. They gather at the foot of all who grieve to strengthen our foundation of faith. They are undying and everlasting. Kevin, I know you don't know...but one of my favorite forms of writing is drawing lessons from nature. This is awesome and does that so very well and in a way that brings strength and hope to your readers. Thank you for the kind gesture of placing these here so that I might be enriched by your pen, just when I needed it most. This too goes into my library. Sincerely, Larry C If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again. |

Hey there Kevo, I'm so glad you reposted for I missed it the first time. I just want you to know that your words touched me tender. Especially loved these lines...... Unwilling is this tree to bow in defeat As it holds fast to it's elected friend. I love trees. I'm so glad I was able to touch you few that replied. Linda, I am so happy that you found my poem so moving that you struggled for words. The greatest gift of all as a poet, as you well know, in the gift of sincere appreciation. We write to touch, don't we? Larry, when I read your poem I though you would appreciate the message I sent the most. At least the most immediately anyway. I am happy to see that you appreciated the metaphorical nature of the poem and hopefully recognized the sense of healing that is there. Shadows, thank you beyond words for the time you took to read my post and reply. It was very nice to see your name pop up on the post. Maree, You write so incredibly deftly that to touch you with my writing was as touching to me. I'm always in awe when reading your posts. They are brilliant! |
