I’ll write and post this because some words come and you want them seen and this is about wild birds Sun touching the ego Waggling down On a nest of bark Dove Change from windsurfing On the seed box Finches eating the plants Of chickweed They planted before Scurrying Hurrying Cat biscuits for some Raisins for others How long will the peace last How long before a small refuge Leaves And a feeling of guilt Because we don’t control What the birds do No matter What we think |

I wouldn't say guilt as much as helplessness for not being in that control...good write |

No feeling of guilt here. I love what the birds do. As a results of birds visiting my yard, I now have wild plum trees, a wild tomato plant, a wild pepper plant, and a beautiful old fashioned rose bush. I am grateful they roam free. Dave, it is so good to see you here again. I've missed your writing. I really enjoyed your keen observations in this poem and the way you put it together. ....jo |
