Mid-morning rain
splotched haze of day,
gray mops of cloud
strings of God's wig
hung past the tree limbs
that tried to catch
falling letters, the alphabet
dripping colors, streaks
of wisdom fell from
the sky into the gutter.

My vain attempt with
arms splayed to catch
a single thought
failed
and I awoke, lying
in bed next to my son
of five years.

I, reading Ginsberg
and he, schoolin' me
on alphabet soup.
Each puzzle piece
disappearing inside his
shirt.

I don’t want the world to see me
cause I don’t think that they’d understand
When everything’s made to be broken I just want you to know who I am

Is this a primer on dreams?

If tears could build a stairway and memories a lane, I'd walk right up to heaven and bring you home again.
