This will be no ordinary fall – autumnal hues whipped by dust, first raindrops splashed on windows cleansing the face of things, and crack-crack of thunder, a storm eager to electrify, to dance with a frenzied sea; the pitch of time as it closes, old songs the body has heard before, not soft, never soft, salt and sand castling to final strains. Your poetry is striking Corinne, you always fill me with wonder and admiration. You're amazing. It's a keeper. Maree The clouds never expect it when it rains, but the sea, changes colour, but the sea, does not change. |

You know, my poet, that when I was growing up in the central/southern, I don't remember any rainstorms that brought with it lightning and thunder. It just...rained. I remember one "quiet storm" that lasted several weeks. It will be good to walk some of that dirt again, soon. It will be good to be home in the Fall. |

Thank you Maree, you are such a kind person! Karilea, I grew up in San Diego, and we did have our share of thunderstorms, mostly in late August and September, when remnants of tropical storms made their way up from the Baja Penninsula. This storm, though, is more of my own imagining, due to the illness of my stepdad. Right now, he's in that calm eye of things, but barring a miracle, this cancer will probably take him within a few months. Marge - how the heck are 'ya, gal? thank you! Ruth, It's great to see you here again! I've always been a huge admirer of your poetry as well -- and thank you!!! Corinne |
