A Good Brushing

It is very easy for the wind to brush me aside
for I lack the weight of another's reason.
I no longer can justify the needs of me
without the accompaniment of tears
that try to fill the deepness that is cut
by the unseeing, unknowing of me.

Consumed by aching thoughts that choose
to cover the skin in a humidity ridden day,
riding me to a point of disbelieving in
the exposure and stumbling means of caring
that has dispositioned me this way.

Months from now, even days, will pass
and I shall not remember who I was,
writing making no sense to me then
when rereading, as it will to some now.
After all, it is only strung words sometimes
hanging themselves out in the wind.
Sometimes needing cured, other times
a rain to fade them out.

My makeup is running, the pit of me
has an unnatural whole, unlike others
it doesn't need healing; when the moment is gone
it is gone...with no more afterthoughts,
no more burials, no more blood letting.
Just a shedding of words...
an achievement in itself.

Unlike the cancer I faced, lingered with
and watched die, I choose not
to linger in this wind of confusion
that threatens to poison
the very whole of me.

A bit of our built-in self-defense.
Else we would all go mad.

Very intense
and painful...
and good.

Hang in there, M...
