walking the surreal

whispering breeze calls quietly

follow me . . .

coaxing, bidding, tempting

a slip stream fantasy

stirring my soul to longing

to wander

tied as I am to the world

loose the knot, follow me . . .

fettered to duty and pledge

come away, know me

solid in my dependability

feel my heated breath

honor bound to the expected

tremble beneath my kiss

Propriety and sense

I am the unexpected

I stand firm in my resolution

I am the unknown

holding tight lest I be swept along

I am the truth of you

with the passing lure of change

I'm glad you all enjoyed this.  It is the debating of two voices that pull- that of reason and responsibility, and that of desire.  I'm glad it worked.

Thanks for your replies -

Susan,
Thank you for this. I'd have to say it worked quite well. Contrast is a favorite theme of mine, here, you have exemplified it.

Ahh,  that little devil perched upon a
shoulder...whispering softly in an ear.

Heads or tails...after all,  the choice is
yours...plain as day....and then there is
a right choice...but...

Just kidding.  Enjoyed this one very much
Susan,  the dual voices of the conscience
speaking within itself.  Fantastico...

You must have drug out one of your favorite
tools and scared him off....

I love the way this poem reads like two seperate poems when one disregards the italics the bold stands on its own as a seperate poem...quite lovely

WOW!  This was a masterpiece in my book!  It was such a beautiful, enchanting, haunting piece of perfection.  I reveled in the completeness of this poem.  It wasn't missing a thing.

Warm regards,

Yes! Exactly! ~ and you have conveyed this scenario so very well! Sometimes it is the softest voice that is the strongest ~ and the most alluring!
