Rich natural ease, in the back of mind
Great audiences, penning beauty enshrined
Aware of kinship…mountain temples
Infinite passions, adhering to visuals
Of ancient cultures and intimate skills

Pearls glimmer classical parallelism
Immense devices spewing rhythm
Woven for ointments which pluck at dawn
Where fallen flowers scatter on ground
Skipping in circles like wind dolphins

There meet human echoes
Sun lithe flickers of youthful brush
Laments full in summer trees
Sunflowers giggle with morning glories

Heroes gaze upon grains of dust
Putting days of chaos to rest
Wife songs rolling down waterfalls
A thousand miles turns crystal white halls

Saying hush…the times of chance return
Picking dream showers of auburn
Imagine the palace of gentle today
Her spirit in moonlight’s golden haze

I trace your footprints in autumn fields
Knowing a light of heaven holds you near
Among flowers parting to foretell
The face of promise loves you so
You...the river-merchant of ocean sky
A bright flame of love smiles reply

fun to read this
merchant of peneplane perhaps

as usual you drag the fig leaves
to the side
and show the bare

"Skipping in circles like wind dolphins"

Lee, I really loved this whole piece....so true, all of it.  You wrote every line with such love and skill.  This has to be one of my favorites of yours to date.  Joining your others in the library.   .....jo

Be careful of what you buy from the "River Merchant" He might be selling a line of bull, like QVC,

"Pearls (that) glimmer classical parallelism"

But you have sold me on the goodness of this poem, so I am buying it...

Come read to me some poem,
Some simple and heartfelt lay,
That shall soothe this restless feeling
And banish the thoughts of day.

When I read this, I skipped from image to image within mini-secs, as if it were my own perception. You have a wonder gift of flitting the reader from here to there.  This is one of my favorites of your poetry, too.  Another one to shelve.  My, you keep me busy...

(I can see a story in this--I'd love to see you put it to prose.  Eh?)

Lee:

Oh, this reminded me of being
in a ring of trees with the sun
dappling through the trees ever so
slightly, showing the remnants of dandelions filtered in the air . . .

so beautiful  . . .

There meet human echoes
Sun lithe flickers of youthful brush
Laments full in summer trees
Sunflowers giggle with morning glories

Lovely!
my favorite line:

Sunflowers giggle with morning glories.

Whether on the shoal or on the shore,
I'll seek the lighthouse evermore.
