Miles to Go Before I Sleep

Each night I run a marathon
that takes me through the years
progressing to the now.

The breeze of thoughts labors into
a whirlwind before the distance begins to tire
the workings of my mind.

I reach for those arms that support
and send me on my way,
wondering if they will be there when I
cross the finish line.
