Unsure
I'm not certain if my girlfriend loves me. Do her actions or inactions affect the way I believe or not believe? Was there something in my past that hurt me or took away my confidence, my ability to trust, to believe, to love? Do I pull her too close, do I push her away, do I say to much or not enough, do I have the right words to say? At times I am so unsure of myself, how do you have a good relationship anyway?

James, that doesn't sound like you! You always have the right words in your poetry. Perhaps you should write your feelings down and give her a poem. Her reaction ~ or lack of any ~ could speak volumes.
Hope all turns out well for you!
Aloha, Linda

James, I feel and relate to your anxiety here. Very well. Ah that pesky word, Trust...
Hypothetical or not, good communication has always worked best for me. Not every time lol, but I've almost always been better off for asking questions.

Don't be unsure...allow her..if she didn't like being with you, she wouldn't be there...love is about taking the time to know someone, and perhaps that is what she's doing...perhaps she wishes to know, if you can and will be responsible with her heart...and not take away her identity...but encourage her to excell and explore, with and without you...everyone needs their own space, their own identity and to know...that you are mature enough to not push her...as it must be mutual feelings...
It will all work out...enjoy it, don't try to figure it out...go with it, easy does it...let all things fall into place...smiles and hugs
