Elusive Butterfly

Elusive Butterfly (Be My Beautiful Butterfly)

I looked into her eyes and told her that I
wanted her to be my beautiful butterfly...

What, when, where, how, and why.
Who can understand an elusive butterfly.
She's like Ruby Tuesday, a pleasure to my
eye, then a brief hello, a quick goodbye.
When she's in my sight, I can hold her close,
I can squeeze her nice and tight, but then a
quick kiss goodbye, and I'm left wondering why.
Why I harbor desires for an elusive butterfly.
And then I inquire "What are her plans?"
And she tells me "When I'm close,
hold onto my hand."
So I ask her, "When will I see you again.?"
And she tells me "Whether I'm far away or
close just be my friend."
Then I inquire "Where do you go when we are apart?"
She reply's "Wherever I am, keep me in your heart."
And I ask her "How could I live without her?"
And she replied, "Live like an angel and
keep your heart warm and pure."
And still I wonder why, why do I pursue
an elusive butterfly?
Then one day she told me the reason why.
she said, "Each time we're close, I'm
your beautiful butterfly."

They may not stay around long, but a butterflies beauty can bring happiness,
even if for only a short time.
Lovely, yet haunting write.
