The Point of Know Return

0 posted 2004-08-13 11:47 PM

i heard the lady on the news say the trailer broke down
somewhere south of here. say we all had dreams inside of dreams.
say there was still hope for mankind. but who listens to the news.

i changed the channel and watched the lamb lie down
and it was 1970 something and I watched the people dance
i think they called it FREEDOM
they asked me, did you know Love is a country?
as i shook my head in amazement
we saw it form and we saw it build and build and build and fall.
as i shook my head and pitied us, here
they asked me, did you know? we knew
all along.

but i changed the channel and saw fire.

and i turned the page and watched beatniks beat the beat
hitchhiking here to there for a change. leave us alone
and we could fly.
say there was more to angst than kids, but adultery and more
and we could talk for hours! damn.
try to converse with the sky. only in dream.
but i learned how
to play jazz in crock pots and pan handles and coastlines
damn the trains and planes, damn the schoolings and damn the rulings
begins a love and a beautiful death
but the death is dead again

but i changed the channel and saw fire.

and i watched the needle drop and thread its way through classic vinyl clothes
and i watched love live again through the eyes of picks and punks
progressing progressively in circles as we all watch it spin and win
and passion plants itself in bedrooms and climbs up the walls in manifestive color
which built cities and gave the media life (regretfully)
i hear Gregoria lost its flag. and i hear sound waves eating away at time squealing,
we started culture
i nodded in agreement.

but i changed the channel and saw fire.

i heard the lady on the news say the trailer broke down
somewhere south of here. say we all had dreams inside of dreams.
say there was still hope for mankind. but who listens to the news.

MexicoCityBlues
enjoyed this write, and understand all too well why you might choose to not listen to the news

This rushed me right back to decades ago...
and yes, I saw and heard all of the colors and sounds again.  Well done!
