Realms of Light

A friend dropped by this morning,
~ Around half-past nine.
I asked how she was doing,
She replied, "I'm...doing fine".

I noticed the hesitation,
So I asked her once again.
She looked at me with sadness,
As tears fell down like rain.

I put my arms around her,
Saying, "I am here for you.
Whatever may be the problem,
I will help to get you through."

"Just pour your precious heart out,
I will sit by you and listen",
But words were not forthcoming,
As her eyes did tear and glisten.

I made a pot of coffee,
Set out some homemade pie,
But as she took a bite,
She heaved a woeful sigh.

My heart for her was breaking,
As she shared her tale with me.
The floodgates burst wide open,
And she talked 'til nearly three.

I was saddened by her story
~ My friend deserved much better!
She then reached in to her purse,
And pulled out a tear-stained letter.

As I read those words in silence,
I could not believe my eyes,
For all the things he used to say,
Had been a pack of lies!

Each day he declared he loved her,
~ Said he'd never love another,
But there must have been a change of heart,
~ Now he's leaving his son's mother!

I put my arms around her,
Saying, "You know I'm here for you.
I will stand right by your side,
To help you see this through."

+*+*+*+*+*+*+

A friend dropped by that morning,
Around half-past nine.
When asked how she's now doing,
She replies, "I'm doing fine!"

wow, this is touching......and so true, this world and its divorces and remarries leave so many crying.....its a lot tougher to stick it out than to just 'find a new one'
sigh

Sometimes we miss that "hesitation" and our friends won't spill, no matter how much they need to.

You've got a good ear, m'friend!

So touching and loving. Yes, sometimes no matter how good are intentions are, some won't open up easily.  Well done Linda!

It is truth that it is not what you say, but how you say it.  Good thing you were listening.

So many times there is no one there to comfort a person when they need it most.  I am glad you were there for her...as you are for us, dear Earth Angel.  LUV & hugs, lily

"I'm doing fine" I see in people's sunshine words, but sometimes recently, have wondered if anything was hidden behind any of the letters.  I'm glad to hear good stories of shoulders and friends. Nice writing, Earth Angel. If the shouldering one ever needs a shoulder, let me know.

(big angel hugs) Oh Linda, this made me cry too because it saddens me so much to see not just lovers but their families be victimized by these false declarations of love and divorces! (sad sigh) Women need to feel special and feel loved and all I want to do is be a giver to one very special girl who I want to love all my life, and I would be heartbroken forever if I ever broke her heart and made her feel unspecial, something I never want to do! (wipes tears) God Bless You, sweet friend, my heart goes out to her and her son, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Linda, thank you for sharing!

May love and light always shine upon you!

Love,
Noah Eaton

The empathy and willingness to look beyond the surface this shows doesn't surprise me at all... not with a heart like yours! *S*
