If I had one dream to offer A smile to give, perhaps, to proffer, I’d basket it in woven reeds Of sentimental ribboned scene, A river bedded grassy sway. On checkered blanket I would lay And love you all the sunny day.
But I’ve no dream like this to hold. It died its death and time has told Summer days are growing old. Shuttered out the wind, you say That’s the reason you can’t be Romantic picnic loving me. My ribbons lost to fantasy.

Yes, like "Ribbons in the Wind" ~ what a poetically poignant way of expressing such emotions...

Wow Jo, this is simply exquisite. So tender, sad, and yet so lovely . . .

A tender write, Jo, showing the ... tender side of a woman. Perhaps from fantasy comes reality because ... well, we have the "power" don't we?

Jo, you write beautifully, sometimes sad, but always beautiful thoughts that we each can relate well to. Thank You for this.

Read and enjoyed Even through its dark sadness, I see light Keep that blanket clean and handy While you live in fantasy, the ribbons are capable of entangling a new reality at any moment. -------ice ><>

Yes, definitely sad and tender.... This aches, and yet it still holds love within it. Plus, it has perfect flow and pulls the reader in. I miss having the chance to be in here and read you... I hope you are taking care.

(big angel hugs) Oh Jo, this made me cry because it had me envisioning the yellow ribbons you see all over trees, representing our soldiers overseas and prayers in wishing them safety and a safe return home! (wipes tears) It breaks my heart envisioning a young twenty-something soldier telling his girlfriend or high school sweetheart he's heading off to the battlefield and then hugging her close as she cries, and for over a year now she has an empty picnic basket on her end table where she sits reading newspapers, trying to find solace in when he may return home to her and they can share their next romantic picnic together! (sad sigh) God Bless You, sweet friend, we all love you so much! You have such a beautiful heart, sweet Jo, thank you for sharing!
May love and light always shine upon you!
Love, Noah Eaton "You'll find something that's enough to keep you But if the bright lights don't receive you You should turn yourself around and come back home" MB20
