Windows to the Soul Why does your soul stare at me like that? With those dark gleaming ambers called eyes. What have I ever done but love you? My heart took you in right away. Is this how you repay it? Daggers of hatred and lies... Is it true what they say? That the eyes are the windows to the soul? I hope not....not with those eyes. You said you loved me--once. I believed you. I needed to believe you. You made me happy--once. What changed it all? Another woman? Hardly. You're not man enough for one woman, much less two. Was it drugs? alcohol? No. You were always the stimulator. I'm tired of this guessing game. You win...I lose. You win your freedom back, I lose the guilt you've laid at my feet. Go and "find yourself" as you put it. Search through those "windows". The windows you keep locked, The windows you refuse to open. Just do me one favor. When you finally find what you're looking for, this time try to actually share it with someone. Don't keep it to yourself, like you've obviously done with me. Maybe I couldn't be what you wanted or needed. Then again, like I've always told you, I don't do windows. ------------------ Melissa |

Windows to the soul. Yes, thats what eyes are. Hatred, joy, love, all can be expressed through the eyes. This is one of the best free verses I have enjoyed in a while now. Good job. |
