The boardwalk flashes neon, Flaunts it. Gaudy Greedy Haughty Seedy I stumble its length, Stop at the pier. Turning back for the hundredth time today, I return to my bench. Weary Longing for rest Waiting... The fronts close up finally, Inside, vendors count meager earnings Typical off-season take. A stiff salt wind blows through my hair Like fingers unfelt for years. Most of the lights and people are gone now. It's quiet except for the gentle night surf Insistantly grasping at the land. Tender moonlight shows me my bed And I make my way to the chill sand, Hollow out a depression to fit mine. Deep, out of the wind. Rolling up in ragged overcoat once again. The dampness seeps into my spine But I am unaware I haven't felt much in a long time. Fitful uneasy sleep comes hard But comes at last. It is the only sleep possible For such as me. |

We share the same sleeping habits my friend... but hey, sleep is highly overrated anyway they say. I truly felt the emotion (or lack of) behind this one, D.B. Good job. Michael |

Gaudy Greedy Haughty Seedy Major descriptive words....you still amaze Jenny ------------------ Love is an attempt at penetrating another being,But it can only succeed if the surrender is mutual. |

Read this a couple of times DB. It won't let go. Sort of a deadpan feel to it. -RS |

Wonderful poem. A paints a clear picture of those less fortunate that are rarely noticed and easily forgotten. Well done. |
